"For the advocate is judged by the response of those whose minds he seeks to change, and nothing is more likely to spoil his persuasive effect than to be caught out in a factual mistake, especially if the fact relates to a precedent of which the hearer has independent knowledge. 'It wasn't that way' easily transforms itself into 'The whole case must be wrong.'" - Neustadt and May in Thinking in Time (Free Press 1986)

LOCATION CHANGE!!!
We're back at Kelly's Tavern this month
(MAP)
And....I'm inviting anyone who wants to join my sons and me to show up by 6:30 for dinner.
(The goal is to have the meals gone before the discussion...else it can be very distracting to the discussion which will begin at the normal time of 8 p.m.)

TOPIC: Male-Female Social Interaction Among Teens and Young Adults in the Church

Some questions to ponder in preparation

  1. How do we protect our children's innocence while helping them learn how to deal with the opposite sex?
  2. Is online chat between boys and girls safe? Wise?
  3. Should boys and girls partner in debate?
  4. Is cloistering really such a bad thing? How about for our girls?
  5. What are our boys/girls (who are becoming men/women) communicating in their dress?
  6. Should our pubescent boys and girls be swimming together...even if whole families are involved?
  7. Should our boys play "shirts/skins" with girls present?
  8. Should boys and girls play Ultimate Frisbee together? How about Flag Football? Soccer?
  9. What if your teenage son/daughter "likes" someone? How should you counsel him/her?
  10. Are we playing with fire with all this dancing?
