"For the advocate is judged by the response of those whose minds he seeks to change, and nothing is more likely to spoil his persuasive effect than to be caught out in a factual mistake, especially if the fact relates to a precedent of which the hearer has independent knowledge. 'It wasn't that way' easily transforms itself into 'The whole case must be wrong.'" - Neustadt and May in Thinking in Time (Free Press 1986)

TOPIC: The Federal Vision

Some questions to ponder in preparation:

  1. Do any parts of the Joint FV statement seem confusing...out of accord with your understanding of scripture? Do any of them cause you concern?
  2. Is there one issue or theme that ties the FV points together?
  3. Why do you think the FV is controversial? Should it be a big deal?
  4. What difference should FV theology make in our orthopraxy (how we practice and live out our faith)?
