"For the advocate is judged by the response of those whose minds he seeks to change, and nothing is more likely to spoil his persuasive effect than to be caught out in a factual mistake, especially if the fact relates to a precedent of which the hearer has independent knowledge. 'It wasn't that way' easily transforms itself into 'The whole case must be wrong.'" - Neustadt and May in Thinking in Time (Free Press 1986)

TOPIC: The Freemasons...what should Christians think/do?

Is it merely a benevolent service organization? Is it evil? Does it just depend upon the membership? Is it all like National Treasure?

Some questions to ponder in preparation:

  1. Is freemasonry a cult?
  2. Can a confessing evangelical Christian also serve as a freemason?
  3. Should a confessing evangelical Christian serve as a freemason?
  4. Should Christians receive help from organizations like the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children?
  5. If my family member is a Freemason, should I try to convince him to get out?

The Symbolism of Solomon's Temple

Templar History Magazine: "Are there Christian Masons?" Dafoe: "Absolutely but one doesn't have to be to be a Mason. In fact, only a few side degrees of Masonry require one to be a professed Christian. The best known of which is the order of the Temple or Knights Templar. There are some different interpretations of this in that some jurisdictions require only a willingness to defend the Christian faith, which any Mason would be willing to do as would he defend any other faith's rite to practice its tenets."
